Trick or treat - Halloween with neon at Allt om Scrap

Hello!
At Allt om Scrap we are sharing today a load of Halloween inspiration with a twist - which is neon!
Halloween is not a big tradition in this part of the world, but last year we were visiting our family in US during this season, so we got the full show:) and I had a bunch of photos to scrap.

Here 's my daughter as a little pirate - a bit curious and even scared of the costumes of some other kids from the neighborhood  :)

Supplies - UHK Gallery Dear Watson.

Julia & Isaak - scraplift

This fall is extemely busy for me at work so I'm even more glad to have a chance (and time) to play in a challenge. Like this one, an inspiring scraplift at scrapki.pl
This layout is a special order of my DD, capturing her first ponny ride-ponny's name is Isaak:) You should have seen how glad and proud she was :)
The layers and careless splashes were exactly  the expression I needed here.

Supplies: Papers - 7 Dots Studio, various collections

CSI case # 93 - with Inkido

Hello!
With a short delay, I'm popping in with the layout which I shared yesterday on Inkido blog.
This month Inkido is sponsoring a fantastic challenge blog Color Stories Inspiration CSI and our DT is appearing there as guest designers.
CSI is very close to my heart, as I'm a retired CSI detective, so I've put aside my golf bag and the gardening (or whatever it is the retired detectives do :)
I rolled up my sleeves and came back to investigate a tough case filed as # 93.
Eventually I came up with a funky, joyful story about my daughter struggling to learn inlines skating :)

Here's the CSI file

My evidence:
pinwheel
checked pattern
mixed media background
text pattern
string
My testimony:
I documented daring -  learning to skate

Don't forget about our current challenge running at Inkido, a scraplift!

Ciao!

Memories - summer 1948. Maja Design moodboard

Witam Was!
Konczy sie moj pracowity weekend, ktory zawieral m in wymiane sofy, mebli lazienkowych,  podejmowanie gosci, produkcje tortu ozdobionego marcepanowymi kroliczkami grajacymi w pilke na lace (nie pytajcie skad taka kombinacja...)  oraz troche scrapowania :)

Niedawno wypozyczylismy kilka starych rodzinnych albumow, pelnych cudownych rodzinnych zdjec. Istna kopalnia inspiracji, jestem pewna, ze powstanie conajmniej kilka scrapow.
Dzis mam pierwszy z nich, z czarujacym zdjeciem z 1948 r, inspirowany fantastycznym moodboardem Maja Design.

Hello!
It's been a busy weekend in this household, including among others: exchange of the sofa & bathroom furniture, having guests, producing a b-day cake with marzipan bunnies playing football and last but not least - a great deal of scrapbooking :)
Recently we got a chance to borrow a few old family albums, full of beautiful old photos. Inspiration load is enormous, I'm sure there will be few layouts done with those photos.
Today I'm sharing the first one, with a charming photo taken in the summer of 1948, inspired by fantastic vintage moodboard by Maja Design.

A step back in time - behind the scenes

Hi there!
I hope everyone is doing fine and having a great start of the weekend!
I certainly do :) SO happy to leave this heavy working week behind...
Now equipped with 2 happy mails which arrived earlier this week (from UHK Gallery and Mixed Media Place), having 2 projects initiated on my crafting table. Life is good :)

Today I just wanted to share few details about my previous layout which I did as my DT project for SATW challenge.
I must say I'm really happy with this one! The projects made on plain paper, with mixed media background are my faves :) It's just so rewarding...can be frustrating sometimes, but hey, it's a part of the learning process and next time is always better :)

I used my favourite, a heavy cardstock from Papierowa Galanteria, a plain light ecru, which has the most beautiful soft vintage tone. PERFECT for the vintage page, trust me!
In my stash I had those fabulous papers from 7Gypsies, but I wanted to use them only as layers, with white space and some effect in the background.

  • I started with applying a thin prime layer of gesso on the cardstock (necessary step if you want to use water medium afterwards)
  • once gesso was dry I applied some random splashes of watercolour paints. I use Twinkling H2O by Luminarte: Mocha Rose, Rose Petal, Sandollar, Natural Linen, Rich Cocoa.
  • a really fun technique which I tried here was stamping with watercolour paint.
  • I applied the paint with the brush on the stamp and stamped the images randomly. It works well with rubber stamp or acrylic stamps which are a bit sticky - basically, the more difficult to clean the stamp, the better for this technique  :)
  • you can either leave the image to dry or spray some water on it, to allow to blend partly-both effects are really nice!
  • I finished off with another dark stamp for contrast, this one with archival ink
Here are some work-in-progress shots, not the best quality but just to illustrate the above.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your stay :)

A step back in in time - SATW OCTOBER challenge!

Welcome back to Scrap Around The World Challenge SIX,
hosted by Design Team member Jessy Christopher from Malaysia!

Last month we made some IMPORTANT RULE CHANGES
so if you haven't checked them out yet please look HERE.

Feel free to interpret the mood board in any way you like,
using one image, several of them, all of them or even just
one aspect of an image, using ANY COLOURS!   Please
do let us know HOW YOU WERE INSPIRED!!

For example:- You could use fresh, clean colours like white, pale blue,
yellow, pink, mint green & gold.  Patterns such as florals/leafy foliage
together with images of birds, flowers, chevrons & polka-dots! There
are elements of vintage mixed in with modern; doilies, airy lace designs,
pretty bows & clashing colours, shapes & prints.  Circles, checks,
stripes - this board is all about eclectic combinations!

There's an air of nostalgia mixed in with the uber-modern images too.
This could prompt you to scrap about different generations, life as it
was then & how it is now, or simply outdoor memories inspired by the
botanical prints.  This board evokes images of purity, beauty &
femininity, with a touch of romance & homely peace & comfort.

OPTIONAL SKETCH

To be eligible for judging:-

In your blog post:-

1)  Please share our mood board image.
{you may show the sketch image but ONLY IF YOU USE IT}

3)  Please check our RULES OF PLAY HERE before entering.

Here's my layout inspired by Jessy's moodboard, I also used the sketch. I felt for the nostalgic theme and I documented a step back in time - a visit to a charming open air museum in the Polish mountains. I also took a great inpiration in photo # 2 , a dominating large flower and the lovely doilies.

In a day or two I will show you some more details and a sneak peak behind the scene - some details about my mixed media background and a new technique I tried here.

A Family portrait - scraplift with Inkido

Hello!
DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!
This month at Inkido blog I'm proudly hosting our October challenge :)))
The challenge theme is Scraplift - it's all about Inkido inspiration and you can check the rules here.

I chose to scraplift a layout made by an amazing artist, our DT member Anupama Choudary. We brainstormed this challenge idea together, so for me it was an obvious choice.
I felt so inspired by Her bold, artsy, mixed media style and I picked Her beautiful vintage Inkido page as a starting point to create my layout.
I recently came across this cute photo of my cousins and it directly reminded me of Anu's page, there is a certain similarity of the scene :)

This is Anupama's layout, which you can see more in details on Her blog. There is also a fantastic tutorial provided!

I hope you feel inspired to join our challenge and dive into Inkido creations world in search for your inspiration :)
